I've got a 97 Subaru outback that I got from a friend. The motor was just replaced but from what I understand the oil plug came out and it ran without oil. I think there's something broken in the motor. He says it starts up but it rattles. I haven't seen it yet. I don't want to spend a fortune on this thing but if anyone knows subaru's and wants to check it out let me know. It's going to be in Danville but I could tow it. Thanks!

Ive done a coupld of headgaskets on these 2.5s and they are a pain.

Subaru motors are not cheap, by the way.

If it was ran out of oil and the car is not very very clean or has low miles then I would not bother with it.

I can tell you that there is plenty of demand for them on craigslist.

the rattling is most likely a rod slamming against the crank because the ebaring is toast. unless youve got some money to put in it, pass
