when i get off the freeway my car idle stays high and wont lower the rpm?

i had the same problem. spray some WD-40 on the throttle body linkage and the lines that run to it. never had a problem with it again. it's worth a try.

Also, check for vaccuum leaks. You can try cleaning the trottle body and the idle bypass.

I would just take the IAC off and check it out. They can sometimes get clogged wiht carbon and shit.

+1 for the vaccum leak. Jest had My new header melt a line and bam would'nt idle down and was surging occasionally. Started doing it yesterday and I fixed it last night. If You look around and can't find anything obvious just spray some carb cleaner/starting fluid around vaccum hoses and upper to lower intake area. Have You done any work to the car lately or check engine light on? You can try pulling codes also.
