I need to hook up my fuel pump relay and need a 12v source for when the keys in on position and when running. Is the easiest spot to hook to the starter solenoid on the side where the positive from the battery hooks to?

anything 12v+ from the battery will be on no matter the position of the key, what you want is an accessory on 12v+ source like the stereo...but I'm not familiar with the electrical system on a 65...

Most likely you'll just have to use a volt meter or test light and probe around to find one. If you need a hot thats always live then hook it to the side of the solenoid the battery cable bolts to. The pump relay wont take much voltage at all to run but the pump itself is going to need a good circuit to supply enough amps to run it without blowing fuses.

i've found the best place to get a key on 12v source is on the back of the ignition switch. it very easy too; then you can hide the relay under the dash. if you reach under the dash, behind where the ignition switch is, you'll feel a threaded post on the switch itself. this is always hot with key on and engine running.
