Author Topic: Paint Purchase lky_3 ¯ Member # 1116 posted                                 So I found someone here locally (LA) to paint my car for me for free, i just have to get the supplies. What is the best kind of paint out there for the money. Im only looking to spend about $500 on paint. Anyone got a hook-up?? Also..How much paint will I need to do my 87 Hatch with all the Jambs and engine compartment? (metal etch) nason probably has the same shit. (yellow stuff) cheap primer.... I'd go with transtar. no lacquer primer! here's the transtar web site. http://www.costplustools.com/store/list_products/index.phtml?start_value=16&category_id=1008219&sales_volume=&sales_dollar=&search_desc=&product_number= they have sealer that goes over bare metal (epoxy). I'm comfortable with an etch primer and a 2k urethane HS primer for blocking. Then just shoot your single stage over it. Maybe ask your painter what he prefers?
