If anyone has any insight into what i should do it would help. I am getting ready to replace my clutch on my 93 5.0 and im kind of stuck on what to get. I am thinking of going with the King Cobra Clutch Kit from Summit. I printed out some of the tips from Ford Racing on how to do the best clutch install. They overwhelmed me because they say there are so many other things you need like a new roller pilot bearing & some sort of shim kit to install it, new pressure plate bolts & dowls and stuff. I know the kit comes with the throwout bearing and that i would have to buy an allignment tool, but other than that is it neccesary to have to do all that. I know that a clutch cable would also be good to get and I am getting a new flywheel also, but other than that what is really really needed. I dont wanna spend a bunch of money on parts that arent neccesary. Any information would help. Thanks guys. See you on the 11th!!

If you going to remain under 300 hp just go with the king cobra. Good clutch for a fair price.

Yea thats what i think, but what about all of the other extra stuff that they recommend. you think that it is absolutely necesary? I am just thinking of getting everything all at onceand just doing it right. On average how long of a project is it to replace a clutch. Are we talking about a couple hours or a full day or 2?

What I do when I replace a clutch in a performance application, not in this exact order:
Resurface flywheel or buy a new one. Install new dowel pins Replace pressure plate bolts Replace throw out bearing Install steel t/o bearing retainer Install new pilot bearing Change Trans fluid Install clutch kit (usually has new t/o bearing) Replace rear tailshaft housing seal.
All of this is cheap to do and only takes 1/2 a day if you are taking your time and have all the parts on hand.

i used a kc and was launching at 6200 rpm with out any slipage. with slicks makeing 320hp at flywheel.

I'm running the king cobra on my 96 Cobra and have done some high RPM shifts on that thing without a problem. I would do the adjustable clutch cable kit with the solid quadrant though for sure. If you dont get under the dash and change it now I'm sure you'll be doing it sometime soon after installing the clutch. I have reused the original bolts and dowel pins and never had a problem but you can always go get some grade 8 bolts to upgrade.
