It wont be pretty, but you CAN patch that. Call your local exhaust shops, you might be lucky enough to find one that can tig weld that together for you. Aluminum is tricky to weld as it's melting point is 3 times that of any other metal.

You can put your car together however you want to...
But it's good that you did it the right way and bought a new intake rather than trying to clump all that jb weld in there.

Not quite sure why you even bothered to fix the hole.... It's not a vacuum leak. The runners are inside the intake & are simply there to direct the air.... I can't see how a hole (even that big) would make much difference inside an intake like this...

just figured it would make the runner as short as were the hole started which from my understanding is to short. they recommend shortening the runner from an 1 1/2 to 2 inches for best performance

You now run the risk of the JB weld breaking off & getting into the motor.
As the motor heats up the Aluminum will expand at a different rate than the JB weld.... This may cause the JB weld to break loose.

Why not scrape some money together and buy a performance intake or another stock one instead of spending $2 and likely having to fix some very costly parts within the engine...

Those intakes are the shit! [Big Grin]
Dave Inall (Incon systems) was doing the casting in Austrialia for HCI...He ran 2 production runs, HCI paid for the 3rd (20+ intakes) & Dave never came through with the last batch of intakes. That's also when he took everybody's money for the last of the Incon kits....
Basically there's somewhere around 50 HCI intakes out there....so enjoy that rare piece of automotive art. [Wink]

I just picked it up yesturday. I'm cleaning it up and just picking up some odds and ends. should have it running by this weekend. i'm sure it won't really shine till I get the turbo on it but it looks badass in the engine bay.

Clean..... I've had dreams for a turbo for my cobra since I bought it. Any pics of the intake installed or how it differs from the stock one? And yeah let me know how it runs once u get it on

Those intakes sold new for $1200.
They are large cross-section/short runner intakes. On an N/A setup it will lose significant bottom end, but should pull a little harder up top. They were designed for large cube high-rpm Nitrous & boosted setups.
