are these just extenders or do they have to be there, they go in between main harness and injector harness. switching to cobra intake these hooked to back of stock intake. thanks

That harness at the bottom is aftermarket. Some people use it to "fix" their idle issues... which doesn't really work. It does, however, work very well to extend the existing harness an extra few inches.
You don't NEED it but I would keep it in my tool box anyway.

I was working on a car that had those. What is the thought behind people thinking it fixes there idle problem? They looked like nothing more than extensions. Just wondering why some people think that.

i thought that those were as a result of a ford recall? because my fox has the same and i've also never heard of aftermarket ten-pin connectors(AKA salt n pepper shakers)

Those are factory Ford extensions, they were added to extend the harness so that the connectors on the harness side would not pull tighter with engine movement causing stress on the metal pin connectors inside. You can run without but if you have them I would use them.

They were a Ford recall for the idle issue. Delete them at your own risk.

I thought they were for a fire hazard recal, in the end its not a must to have them.
