The problem I am having after converting my car to a 5- speed is the transmission seems to be sitting to high in the car. I had to trim the hole in the front for the shifter to come through, I reused the rear holes for the shifter boot bolts and drilled new ones for the front. The shifter is a Pro 50 and the front actually presses against the front of the lower boot retaining ring and bends it. The shifter is stretching the boot way beyond where it should. Is this normal with Pro 50 shifters? Is the a solution to this prob? Red and green arrows show the sides of the alumium shifter base at the top Blue arrow shows the rear stop bolt. Purple arrow shows how far the boot is stretched and pulled open to the out side. Yellow arrow shows the bend upward from the front of the shifter base setting against it. You can see the curve in pic one also. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appriciated. Thanks, Tim

When I converted mine I had to trim the front and I think drill holes for the front, my shift boot fits nice but I have a B&M. I guess that does not help.

Much cleaner, I'm starting to think the Pro 50 needs to go.

I cut the boot. Duh! I guess checking the instructions on their website is a good idea when you buy used parts.

I’m having the same problem with my pro 50 it is so high it hits the black cover a little dose yours do that too

If your talking about the upper boot, mine isn't that high. The front of the billet base of the shift still is resting against the lower boot at the front and transfers some noise into the car, but I don't think there is a fix for it.

Man on a pro50 shifter, you have to cut the boot on the inner part to fit around the base of the shifter below the shift stops for a perfect seal. The instructions give you a pattern. Just cut the circle up to the first little crease. About 3-4" in diameter.
