the car is a 90 gt with a fresh aod, bbk shortys, bbk ORX, bbk CAI. im looking at getting an edelbrock rpmII, bigger mass air and TB, a GOOD 3k stall ( bm holeshot??) and 3.73's, maybe possibly a mild cam ( i dont want to do headwork so a cam would probably work against me) this should get me into the high 13's on drag radials right?

With a good hook, you should hit HIGH 13's. I wouldn't bother with a cam if you're not swappin' heads.

great i am on track then, im sure this is an age old question but is the car going to actually ET any better with a stick swap ( assuming a good launch) or will it just dyno slightly higher? [ April 01, 2007, 11:28 AM: Message edited by: FasterDamnit ]

Do not to get a B&M converter because they suck. Almost any converter You pick will be a better choice. I have had good luck with www.edgeracingconverters.com and I have Never heard of anyone having a bad experience with them. Don't forget the shift kit, drag radial's, and some underdrive pulley's.

ok sweet, man youde think BM would make a quality product, a crappy stall really ruins a good car so thanks for the heads up. i forgot to add, i have UD pulleys and a B+M stage2 shiftkit already ( tranny is 8 months old or so ive been told) [ April 01, 2007, 12:31 AM: Message edited by: bigjay ]

Sound's like the engine should still be strong then. I would recommend a valvespring change though, I did mine with the head's still on the car!

should be ok still, runs great ( i hope i didnt just jinx myself, lol). i would imagne a set of RR's wouldnt hurt either along with the new valvesprings.. since i (or whoever) will be in the area anyway

wow, great article, thanks for posting that link! thats quite an improvment for just a stick swap,im very impressed with that cars performance considering what little it had for mods at that time, looks like the best things i can do are gears and a swap, a good fresh t5 is going to last me longer and handle more power than this aod will anyway im sure

the edelbrock rpm2 with out the heads will kill your torque..... i had the edle performer then chaged it to the edel 2 and it killed my torque... the performer is better for a stock set up.

damn those MM&FF guys, they claimed something like a 67 hp gain from the rpmII and if i remember right they used it on both a stock headed 5.0 and aslightly built motor, ill have to find the article again, i thought it would be a good choice because both it and the rpm are off idle to 5500 or so intakes, keeping me in my stock bottom end's non exploding rpm range, the more i think abou ti the more i may just stick with doing my tranny, gears and getting as big a good TB and MAF

your going to build the engine later in time yea get the intake for now. but if not your wasteing your time and money... and the rpm2 goes to 6500 hundred with out a good cam your not going to see any resaults above 6... and also for a basically stock engine the biggest TB to do is 70mm any bigger is a waist as well... good luck
