soooo,
i need some gauges - just wondering what is the difference ?
mechanical= i need to hook up directly
i.e, oil - doesn it need to be connected to he unit on the block.

electrical- just splice into the gauges on the dash ??

most real race cars have mechanical gauges since they are more reliable.

I use all electric gauges where possible. Never any problems so far. Accuracy is limited to the accuracy of the gauge and the accuracy of the sending unit.
