Just noticed recently that whenever I try to shift into fifth gear above 2500 rpm I get a pop \ grinding sound. However, it still goes into gear without any trouble. If I shift into fifth at any other rpm there is no noise. Is my fifth gear syncro going out? This is a T-5
It is pretty much the same pop noise as you get when putting a t-5 into reverse. [ November 07, 2006, 05:09 PM: Message edited by: adower ]

sounds like you might want to start saving up for a new transmission

Even if all the other gears work fine? What about a rebuild?

i would start by changing the tranny fluid and the 5th gear syncro. and if u still have a problem after that then rebuilt or new tranny

Thanks for the advice. If I shift into fifth under 2500 rpm there isnt any grind/pop. Ive got an aftermarket shifter if anyone was wondering btw.
