I just picked up a 92 lx 5.0 5speed and it doesn't go in reverse. Some told me that it just needs to be serviced. It that true? What can I do a and how much money am i looking to spend?

my friends reverse went out and it cost him 300 to get a new one. The charge to drop the tranny and install it again plus the work on the tranny itself.

Sounds like the slider gears that engage/slide on the bottom left of the tranny broke.
Common with a T-5 to do that. Easy fix if you know what your doing but the tranny has to come out and apart to repair.
