I posted this before but not much luck getting a good response.. i have a 89 gt, automatic.. at a stoplight in drive with foot on the brakes.. after 5 seconds.. the car idles crazy up and down like its about to shut down unless you stick it in nuetral.. the rpm guage is fine and stays normal but the oil guage falls to the bottom and jumps around between the red and 1 bar. i started putting premium gas only in it and it seems to have went away.. but sometime, it still does the same, usually after a long long drive. yes i checked the oil.

another thing is the oil aways goes low. not really low, but to the "safe" level. the car doesnt have any leaks, can it be burning oil? same thing with the radiator.. fill it up and then it gets low.

Have you replaced the fuel filter?

I have a 95 gt with a 5.0 and had similar problems. I purchased a stock distributor(brand new, no kragen shit) and it has been working ever since without a hitch. Also, if you haven't changed your fuel filter, plugs, wires, cap and rotor, that might help a bit too. Also, when you change the distributor, adjust the timing depending on what mods you have.
