At high speeds (like 100mph), my rear end makes a whinning noise. A fairly loud one. Is it a matter of time before my rear end goes out?

No I havnt changed the gear oil. How much do I need? Also, should I use royal purple? Mobil 1? Also, do I need to add the friction modifier as well or do most of these synthetic gear oils suffice without it?

Any synthetic will have the friction modifier in it. As for Royal Purple, that's all I run in my cars. 2 quarts will do the trick!

When you pull the cover, take a GOOD look at what's inside. If you see ANYTHING broken, or chips on the magnetic fill plug (upper driver's side), you know you've got trouble brewing.

Additionally, check your transmission fluid!!
