I noticed some oil leaking from under my car so I jacked it up and saw that the oil filter was leaking and was bent in at the tip. It looks like my sway bar banged up against it causing it to puncture. I changed my oil (new filter included) and a couple days later the same thing happened. I am currently running a WIX 51515 filter made to fit 87-93 5.0 HO motors. I'm not sure where to start, haven't had time to look into it much, just wondering if anyone had similar problems?

is your car lowered...a lot?

the swaybar is pretty far from the filter on my car..

Do you have an oil cooler / is it a ex-highway patrol model? The highway patrol cars have an oil cooler and so they use a different oil filter, you want the filter intended for a `96 ford explorer 5.0, which is the same thread and diameter but is about 1/2 the height.

Is there any reference to this online? It makes sense, I just want pictures. The car is not dropped and it is an ex-highway patrol. Where exactly is the oil cooler?
Thanks [patriot]

should be right infront of the radiator.

Then why would you need a shorter filter?

Would it be wise to take the sway bar off completely like these guys are doing?

It doesn't seem like a good thing to do, what would be some draw-backs (more along the lines of safety and damage, not so much performance.)
