My friend is looking to upgrade his 16inch ponys to 17 inch cobras what is the biggest he can put on the front in back? The car has Ebach sportline springs so it has a great drop. I was told 255's all around but I heard someone squezzed 275's in the rear with 255's up front we do not want the tire to stick out.

255/40's front and 275/40's rear will work with the proper backspacing. You MIGHT have to remove your quad shocks and/or roll the rear fender lips under.
