Whats Traction Lok on the 99+ GTs? It has that button on the shifter console there and was curious how it works. [Confused]

That button youre referring to is the traction control button, Traction Lok is what Ford calls thier limited slip differential. They are two totally diferent things. With Traction control it uses wheel speed signals from each wheel to determine if the vehicle is loosing traction, if it does then it cuts injectors.

Fuel injectors. A few injectors are turned off to reduce engine power, then brake pressure is applied to the spinning wheel via the ABS system.

It doesn’t work quite like you think it does. It’s actually a really annoying feature. It is not at all for racing. In fact turn it off if you plan on racing or driving aggressive. I used my Diablo tuner to make it stay off. In the rain or under hard acceleration, if it senses a rear tire spinning it kills some of the fuel to the engine and makes the car fall right on its face. Trust me. Its not all that cool. Turn it on and try to do a burn out. You’ll see what I mean.

Traction Control: Electronic program that uses the ABS module, ABS HCU, wheel speed sensors, brake pedal position sensor to detect wheel spin. ABS module sends signal to PCM, kills injectors, stops torque being made, pulses from HCU are sent to the caliper of the wheel that is spinning to make it stop.

Traction Lok, Posi Traction, whatever you wanna call it: Uses clutch plates and steels inside the carrier in between the side gears and the carrier. When the right rear wheel looses traction power is transfered to the other wheel. This sytem uses hard parts, not electronic programs.

what I meant is teh traction lok is ford's version of a posi unit.

the switch by the shifter has nothing to do with the rear end...it's a traction control switch that comes optional on the GT.

sorry to not be specific.
