89 gt, edel heads, edel intake e-cam when coming off the freeway after driving for awhile the car dies then after popping it into gear it starts. any ideas? does not die at every stop only happened twice after driving on the freeway and then slowing down to take a exit

It sounds like an altenator problem because that's what happened to my 87gt when I had it, it would just die, I think it wasn't getting a charge. So you may have to either change the altenator or get a altenator that has higher amps.

Does/has the check engine light come on while it's dying? It's possibly the EGR valve not seating completely. Check your IAC valve, as it may be gunked up.

If your EGR looks good then replace the distributor. Especially if it’s an original stock unit with over 70k miles... I had the exact condition happening to my car, I tried several things and it was most definitely the distributor. [ February 18, 2006, 11:37 PM: Message edited by: 95331StrimVert ]

clean the TB and IAC, do a minimum idle procedure, and it should be good.

could it be a vacuum leak? I know sometimes when cars have vacuum leaks they have a hard time stayin alive, right?
