Ok, here's the problem. It started on the day of the cruise to Santa Clara for the Apex meet. The car drove fine until I noticed a little wobble or a shake on the way home. The next day I drove the car to San Jose from San Ramon again but the problem only became worse. I figured it was a tire balancing problem, but it wasn't that after getting the tires re-balanced. Here's a few things that may play a role in the problem. Within the last 2 days before the meet I; put 8mm spacers in the rear, odometer hit 190k (original motor), set timing at 12 degrees, and drove probably the farthest my stang has ever been since I've owned it (2yrs) and on top of that I had 4 people in the car on the way to the meet..Hopefully some of the info can help figure out the problem

So heres everything I noticed the car doing: Vibrates under acceleration only. Only happens when a load on throttle is applied at reaches above 2200-2300rpms. If the cars not in gear and coasting there's is no vibration at all, even coasting up or down steep hill gaining speed but still no vibration. If I cruise at 65-70mph I can't really feel any vibration at all sitting at 1700-2000 on the freeway. It seems apparent to be something that spins with the motor while under load. If the car's at a stand still and I bring it up to 3-4k there's no vibration. The vibration seems to just get worse so I'm going to just park the car.

What I've done so far is; Rebalanced tires, and Checked timing again.

The harmonic balancer has had very slight wobble for a while now but it doesn't visually look to be any worse. Do my symptoms seem to be of a bad balancer?

Ok first off is your car an automatic or a manual second have you checked all the motor mounts to see if they are all in good condition. If your car is an automatic you can check the torque covertor may not be properly aligned. If your car is a manual you might check your working drive shaft angle especially if you have lowered the vehicle. Need any help call me 510-825-0156 i will ask my suspension and driveline vibration instructor but thats what it sounds like to me.

well than what i would tell you to do i know you have already gotten the tires rebalanced already once but the machines used to balance them are very delicate and easily breakable this can throw your tire out of balance causing uncomfortable ride

Check your:

Driveshaft bolts
Clutch fan bolts
Rubber band around Balancer
Crankshaft Pulley bolts

All of those could caused vibration in separate cases for me.

I had that same prob with the camaro, i had a cracked tailshaft, it got so bad that i lost a universal-joint cap and that may it worse with the un-balance! i was driving down the freeway and the car started to shake so bad i had to pull over! [Eek!]

i double check all bolts on the flywheel,u-joints,the large bolt on the damper, see if the ring on the damperner slipped! if its wobbling like you said it maybe off. if you did any tranny work and did not put the driveshaft in the proper way (its lined up a certain way) for balance. good luck

Ernesto
