In Santa Rosa there is a shop called "The Rear End Shop" and they want $400 bucks just to take out my old gears and install the new ones, is that a good price, is there anyone else good around where i live that can install them for a good price? I live in Petaluma, 20 minutes south of Santa Rosa and 45 minutes north of San Francisco from highway 101

Can beat that price by almost half.

The rear end shop is pricey, but I have never had an issue after an install with them. I have had 5 diffs done by them. They do great work,if your willing to pay. There is a good chance you would end up paying more than 400 if other parts aren't in spec. If your on a budget,i've only heard good from johnB's work.

Rearend Specialties in Santa Clara did mine. They were recommended by most people at the track. They were much cheaper than the Rear End Shop, and will do the work in a couple of hours while you wait. At least they did 10 years ago when they did my car. I wonder if they are still around. Back then it cost me $360 or $380, but that included a set of Ford 3.55's.

Another one for JohnB... he did the 3.73's on my old 94gt, and it was a flawless install. I pounded on them after a good break-in and never had a whine or anything bad at all.
