Did a supercharger somehow get installed without you noticing?

Open the hood and listen for the sound.
It could also be your alternator. I had a crappy alternator from NAPA on one of my old mustangs and it made that sound.

the bearings in it make a whining sound when they are in need of replacement, its easiest to just replace the alternator but if you wanted you could have the bearings replaced.

Sounds like a bearing headed on the way out. Take off the drive belt and check all the the turnie things for play or noise.
