I just went through the top end of the motor installing ported heads, B303 cam, 1.72rr's, edelbrock upper/lower intake, 70mm TB,MSD 6A, and converted from SDI to Mass Air. I have an A9L comp, 19lb. inj, and stock mass air. I have 24pounders but don't have the mass air to match yet. I know it's hitting TDC on the compression stroke, I have the distributer aimed at the #1, and have tried starting it on damn near every degree between 1-10. I have got it to start but only when I advance it to like 30deg. which is waaaay toooo much and I still have to toy with the gas to get it to start then. I noticed before that injectors would make noise when I turned the distributer but now they don't? I have all my vacuum lines hooked up right and pulled the plug to shut the computer advance off on the distributor. I have already received a great deal of help from some of the board members and REALLY appreciate it but I still can't find my problem any help would be greatly appreciated.

The timing could be off 180 degrees. Try re-timing it again.

I thought the same myself but when it blows my finger off #1 it should be right on. It doesn't land perfect so I use a socket to turn the crank pulley back to 10deg.

The #1 cylinder will blow your finger twice. (that sounds nasty) Anyway, it will compress twice for each spark. You could be thinking it is on the compression stroke when it is actually on the exhaust stroke. If you are 180* out, that is why.
