ever since i put my new engine in the car, the gas fumes are really bad. I can smell it when i am in the car and I can smell it very strongly when i park the car and get out.

I have off road exhaust that ends in dumps just after the mufflers. Im running 24lbs injectors, 255 pump, matching MAF, gt40 irons, Kirben Fuel pressure regulator...

as far as i can tell its not leaking from anywhere.

What could contribute to the car reaking of gas so bad?? Are there any semi cheap sensors that i should look into replacing??

Any help would be great, i really dont want to pass out from asfictiation and crash... that would be a shitty way to go!

The car also surges at idle, jumping from 700 rpm up to about 1300. It doesnt do this all the time... it seems to run fine after it warms up

... also has a compucam 2030 (.533/.544 lift)

Perhaps you are running rich.

What FP are you running at? No cats can attribute to this problem as well.

Ok i checked the fuel pressure and it is at about 34lbs at idle, im not sure if that is high or low or what.

Also i just replaced all the standard plugs with ones that were 1 degree hotter, all the ones i removed from the engine looked fine although they had only been in there for 500 miles.

Any more suggestions or info you can throw my way would be great! Thanks guys and girls!

Are the fuel rails seated GOOD against the injectors? Are all the O rings installed Top and Bottoms?

Fuel rails and injectors all look seated and sealed, i dont see any fuel build up nor is there a strong smell of gas coming from the upper to lower intake area.

What kind of vaccum leak would cause this?? Im not running any smog equipment so im only utilizing the tree that sits up and to the left of the brake booster... intake/FP reg/brakes/and the one that goes down into the fender well.

How did my FP sound...34psi ok?

Anymore help would be most appreciated!

what kind of FPR do you have?

It could be a bad diaphragm on it.

Its a kirben. When i first tested the fuel pressure it was at 40 psi, but since it was running rich i turned it down to 34 or so. Having larger injectors, pump, and MAF, should my fuel pressure be higher than stock, the same, or lower than stock???

How can i check and see if the diaphram is bad??
