Topic: exhaust smells really strong

did a vortech install on my 93 cobra basically motor stock with ac delete,smog pump delete and no cats.but it smells really bad and strong.is it because the car is not tuned yet?or is it because no smog pump and stuff that goes with it?

Both of these are most likely your problem. The difference between just having cats and not is huge, then throw in the other stuff and its really bad.

Thats funny, i have a 306 that i built and i have no smog pump and no cats, but my car doesn't smell at all and definetly doesn't make my eyes water, guess it all just depends on the motor i guess.

Shit is probably running too rich- it seems that the fuel is not really burning up that good so it is discipating trought the exhaust- a good tune should fix that- you will notice a HUGE difference in the powerband with a good tune- trust me man- it will feel like a straight beast after a GOOD TUNE- But 1st you need to find a really good tuner- ![[patriot]](graemlins/patriot.gif)

same prob with the strong smell because of an offroad x pipe, but I know for a fact that im running too rich (10:1 air fuel ratio)! am putting in an adjustable preassure reg. and leaning it out. Hope that will help the smell somewhat!

are tunes nessacary for stock motors with light mods?..or can they help alot.cause my shit smells like that 2 w/no cats.but not that bad..what do tunes cost around anyone know?
