I have a 92 GT that won't run anymore. I was heading home the other night & power started dropping off. Even if I downshifted it kept slowing down. until I pulled off the road where it died & wouldn't start. It was at night & my dash lights don't work, but I think it got really hot.

I have fuel & spark, it turns over fine, but it won't fire.

Any ideas?

BTW, car is completely stock other then exhaust.

how do you know that you have fuel and spark, just because you hear the fuel pump doesn't always mean it is getting to the injectors, it should but not always, because if you have fuel and spark and battery is cranking the motor over just fine then it should (theroretically) start. Maybe check the timing and i would go as far as checking every spark plug wire to make sure that every one is sparking. and if all that is good, disconnect the coil wire, pull out each spark plug one at a time and stick your finger over the spark plug hole and have a friend, family member, crank the motor over to make sure you don't have a blown head gasket and not getting adaquate compression, sounds weird but i have seen that happen before and not leak any fluid, it was weird.

You said that when you pulled over your lights stopped working? Have you checked your charging system. Does it crank slowly when you try and start it?

If it cranks normally and it won't start then odds are you either don't have fuel or don't have spark.

Lights work fine, cranks over fine. Just won't start.

I pulled a few wires & put plugs in them, cranked it over & saw spark.

I pressed the schroeder (sp?) valve thing & gas sprayed out, so I am pretty sure I have fuel.

I think it got too hot & cooked the engine, but I am no mechanic. lol

i sounds like you did some of the stuff i suggested but it doesn't sound like you tried the compression check of each cylinder, because there isn't really anything else if you have proper spark and fuel. You sound check EVERY wire and EVERY spark plug not just some of them.
