currently has a 289 but i want to replace with a 302 (most likely from a fox-body)... what will i need to do to make it work? should i just get one from an older car? help me out y'all.....

It should just bolt right in if you want to run carb'd. If you want to convert to EFI then you will need to do a bit more work.

yea it should bolt right in but if the 302 has aftermarket headers it might get a little tight and u might want to change ur mounts i had the stock one on mine and they broke with in 4 weeks good luck [ December 07, 2005, 08:18 PM: Message edited by: 94DropTop ]

302 and 289 is the same block

If the Car is a STICK, then you'll need a bracket for the clutch equalizer to bolt to. I think "Windsor-Fox" (Here ) sells them. 5.0's used cables... Diminsionally, a 289 and 302 are the same externally. There are some differences, though. You'll need the balancer and flywheel/flexplate that matches whatever engine you get (28oz/50oz)
