A 97GT needs all the gear it can get. I say 3.90's are a good compramise. 4.10 if you rarely drive on the freeway. 3.73's if you can barely afford gas for your car.

For everyday street use I would recommend 3.73 gears. 4.10s are great for the track but too much for many people for everyday use. Let us know if we can help you with some gears and installation.

If it's going to be SC'd, 3.73's if you don't do alot of freeway driving..3.55's if you do. Why put 4.10's in it just to change them when you charge it?

I am very happy with my 3.90 ratio.
I would not want anymore however on a street car.

I'm very happy with my 4.30 gears and I actually get better mpg on the freeway with them. Not sure why but I assume less load on the engine and transmission. But I do have a 4V so for a 2V you should probably either get 3.90 or 4.10. Going from 3.27 to 3.73 is not that big of a difference.

I went with the 3.73's i like them a lot better than the stock gears anything else is kinda low for a sc'd car. [ October 24, 2005, 12:12 AM: Message edited by: PWR HNGRY 302 ]

From my experience I can tell you that you should look into your future plans to make the right choice..If you plan to add a power adder in the future, than you should consider that. If you plan to stay N/A,,go with 4.10s or 4.30s and not doing much freeway driving..3.73s if you plan on adding a SC or Nitrous later on,,plus it will save you some gas and drive on the freeway at 3000 rpms..overeall I would say go with 373s if you mind driving at high rpms on the freeway,,but if you dont go with 410s,,

3.73 is perfect for a 5.0 but not quite enough gear for a 2V GT in my opinion. [ October 24, 2005, 03:17 PM: Message edited by: 1fast281 ]

In my dad's blown 98 Cobra we still had a lot of gear left with the 3.73s. So we isntalled 4.30s. Its a track car only though.

Go with 4:10 and watch when other fools pull up next to you on the freeway and down shift to third to race and you just punch it in fifth and just walk away from them.
