I'm posting this for a friend.
ok he has a 86 gt mustang and he did a trick flow hci.
he had someone do this for him like a month ago after the install he had a loud whistling noise and also the car was not running as hard, so they left it like that cause the guy told him to drive the car for like 500 miles and to bring it back so he could adjust the rockers cause the the the heads are brand new, well on saturday the guy was adjusting the rockers with the valve covers off [Roll Eyes] he did one side and the car felt and sound a lot better accourding to my friend then the guy took the other valve cover off and did the same thing and the car died and of course a lot of oil was spiled, so they put everything back together and now the car those not turn on at all. What should he do now is there any specs on to adjust this heads(oh this are the twisted heads) what else should he do to make the car run right since the guy is lost.

maybe the engine siezed? does the engine turn freely? maybe a valve is staying open and opening so the engine cant turn? for the whistling, does he have a bbk or mac cai? if so edge of the pipe is smaller than the intake opening, which creates a lip that makes whistle sound, kinda like bloewing over the opening of a plastic bottle, jose(sic5pointslow) told me this becuase he had the same ques and he called tfs.

well from what my friend told me it doesn't even crank it only makes a weird sound, also the whistling noise was cause by the pvc or pcv valve something like that but they got that fixed.

Maybe he adjusted the rockers too tight [Confused] I would start by double checking the procedure he used to adjust them. Then I would pull the valve cover back off and check it again.

Also, while he is in there check to see if there was any damage done (bent pushrod, etc.).

the solenoid idea sounds like something worth checking out, if they were bumping the engine over while adjusting the valves the solenoid could have overloaded. just a possiblity, either that ir they tightend the valves too much and dropped one.. OUCH!

This really doesn't have much to do with the post or is gonna help much, was just curious how he was able to use the TFS heads & Cam on the 86GT without any clearance issues? Because the 86 5.0 pistons have no valve reliefs, I personally have an 86GT and was told that because of the piston situation I'd have problems with putting on new heads and a cam.

I opted to just port the crap out of some E7s and a stock intake lol. Sorry for hijacking, was just shocked to hear/read that.

I'd imagine that if you stayed with the stock valve sizing you would be ok?

That and the fact that 86 wasnt a mass air year anyway, so it might run like shit because of the cam...

I've seen people do it before and it makes it easy to get the rockers quiet but it makes a hell of a mess all over your headers and such...

I'd be concerned. There is a significant risk of bending a S-load of valves with those heads on an '86 shortblock. NO valve reliefs, though the Twisted Wedge is less likely than others to do this. The TW's only come with 2.02's so stock valve sizing is not possible with this combo. They definitly should have been checked for clearance before it was started.
And did you check pushrod length? TW's are notorious for wearing out valve guides if the wrong length pushrod is used.
And since we are talking about adjusting rockers, I assume you have stud mount roller rockers, not pedestal mount (which aren't available new anymore.) Hopefully you have good rockers.
Also, I'm concerned with the method used to adjust the valves. The method described is used sometimes by racers for solid lifter cams, but we don't have those. There is no "lash", which means you can stick a feeler guage between the tip of the valve and the tip of the rocker. Our engines have a litle preload in the lifter (as do all hydraulic lifters). Why wasn't the recommended method used? I guarantee you that the Cam manufacturer does not tell you to adjust them with the engine running. Sounds to me like the guy that did the work should find another line of work....
Here's the proper method to adjust the valves:
General overview:
Here
5.0 Specific:

Here

And another
Good luck....
