You should pickup some HP by installing pulleys. They shouldn't affect your water temp (mine didn't) if your cooling system is in good shape.
I never had a charging problem with mine. However, other people have. You should be able to install the pulleys yourself in an afternoon.
Good luck

Noticed a good increase with My 5.0. Keep Your original's then if You have a problem with cooling or alternator just swap back! Also with My car had to switch back to stock with supercharger install.

on most "underdrive" kits the alternator pulley is actually an "overdrive" so that you dont have charging problems.
so I would say DEFINATELY do the alternator if you do the others.

if he leaves the bigger pulley on the alternator the alternator will spin slower and he will have charging issues.
I have underdrive pulleys and during the summer i seemed to have a cooling problem but it might have been caused by air in the system not sure cause now it stays at the temp i want it to and never gets hot. Also when i come to stops at night my headlights will dim down but its cool cause when i rev it it seems like the car is coming alive haha.

I have the BBK aluminum ones on my fox. I haven't had a problem since and I changed all 3 (water, crank, and alternator). Definetely worth the money.

lol, my 94gt did that SAME thing... I liked it.
FWIW, I know there are several guys on the Mach1reg that have had oil pumps fail on them after installing pullies. I believe it only affects the mach1/maurader engines, since its been proven ford went to a cheaper oil pump shaft.
