i have been having a vibe problem for some time now. So, I have the tranny disconnected. I still have a vibe problem. I also noticed oil has been getting on my cluth due to a rear main seal leak. So I am going to install a new clutch and fix the leak. I have solid motor mounts, but the vibe issue I am having started prior to the install of solid motor mounts. I have already installed a new harmonic balancer and that did nothing. What else could I check? Maybe my flywheel? Any ideas?

could be the flywheel. when did the problem start? could also be misfiring

How is your transmission diconnected?...If it's just the driveshaft that you took off to disconnect, then you might have a bent input shaft on the transmission...

OK.........I have the tranny completed removed. I am going to installa new clutch because like I mentioned, it has oil on it from the leak which I will take care of as well. I just installed a new flywheel as well. The stock original has small cracks on it all the way around. With the tranny all the way out, the car still has a vibe. I am going to remove the solid motor mounts and install stock replacements and see what happens. I do not know what else to do?
I think it may be internal. Looks like the only way to possibly fix it, is to rebuild the motor.
Any other ideas?

1 more thing, the vibe is felt most at 3k rpm.

Are you sure it isnt a driveshaft issue? Swap in a different one & see if it helps.

Have you swapped clutches? They go outa balance too.

My old 5.0 had a heavy vibe at high R's. Ended up being the balancer on the Crank shaft due to a fucced up Harmonic balancer.

I replaced my balancer, installed my rebuilt tranny, new clutch and resurfaced flywheel, but still had the vibration. Clutch in or out, didn't matter, the vibration increased with rpm's. I have the new motor mounts and brand new flywheel ready, just haven't had the time to install them.

i've read a lot about people getting flywheels balanced wrong or in the wrong boxes. its kind of scary actually because it's a pain to change

Perhaps the flywheel.
If the clutch is out, exclude everything behind it then from attributing to the problem.
Check the bolts to the clutch fan, or removing the fan for a SHORT period of time and checking for that.
How about a shorter belt to rule out some accessories?
Check the pulley bolts as well to all of your accessories.

OK, I have a new clutch, flywheel, and new stock replacement motor mounts. I had solids in prior to the stock replacements. At idle and when I rev it, it feels better. I still have not taken it onto the highway for the true test. I have not messed with or checked the U/D pullies nor the fan/fan clutch. I already installed a new harmonic balancer prior to all of this. The new harmonic balancer helped a little bit. My old harmonic balancer was bad, so I hope I do not have any internal problems like six 5.0 did. Because after all I have done recently, I could only imagine that it would be internal. But I will see once I take it for a nice highway drive.

My car rides nice again. To be honest with you I am not sure as to what exactly fixed it. But I am sure the motor mounts helped alot. I have spoken to a few mechanics, and they told me what six 5.0 experienced, is common on 5.0 mustangs.
