My car sputters and it also feels like a misfire. I have recently installed new plugs, cap/rotor, and wires. It still does it and it is getting worse. I am tired of fooling with my car and need profesional help! I have weekdays off so hopefully I can take my car to a good shop. Problem is, I dont know of any.

Can someone please point me in the right direction? I live in solano county but I am willing to drive.

Thanks,
J.

Double check the wires to make sure firing order is correct.

Did it do it before you changed the plugs/wires?

Also, make sure they are all on tight and not touching the headers

I could be a number of things. I would try and pull the codes from it before you go buying parts. Yet it could be something as simple as an old fuel filter. Do you have a code scanner? If not go to autozone and rent one for free. [patriot]

yes it did it before and now after. I can cruise the car just fine around town and on the highway. But once I try to press the throttle past half way and get on the car a bit, it will start to sputter and it almost feels like a misfire. My car feels as if it has lost power due to this, even when I am cruising.

If I get on the car it will sputter, then once the sputtering stop it takes off real hard! I have a code scanner and will run codes and see what I get. Either way I need to take my car to a good shop.

My 90 did the same thing. Before you take it to the shop and spend money that you dont need to, just double check those plug wires--trust me, even though you've already done it. I triple checked my wires cuz everyone was telling me to. So one night I decided to check them while its dark and maybe I could see the wires arching. I even tried to put cardboard between the wires so that there could be no way they could be arching. I checked the driver side--they were fine, but while I was checking the driver side I could hear this ....sort of ticking. So i kept putting my head around the engine while it was running so that I could try to hear the ticking the loudest. When I came to the passenger side I couldnt see anything right off the bat, but when I looked closer, 3 of my wires were arching all together-they were brand new wires.

Also try your ecm (on your distributer) have that tested at vatozone, its free, while youre there you might as well have your coil tested even though those are either good or bad. Just some suggestions and good luck!!! oh maybe clean your mass air meter with carb cleaner, but dont touch it. 02 sensors maybe also!!
