Yesterday I took out my bad transmission and replaced it with another one that I bought. Once I replaced it and secured everything I took it for a test drive and the shifter feels real loose, can any body tell me what it could be?

What and where do I find that item located at, at the base of the shifter? Also I drove the car for about 5 miles and checked everything and it was good, I looked under the car and noticed that the transmission was leaking, what else can go wrong with this tranny? I wasn't able to jack up the car do to no jack, but I will get a chance hopefully tomorrow. Would it be okay to drive it for 2 miles to work and back until I can check it?

Yes it's the little plastic "cup" that is connected to the "ball" portion of the shifter handle that rests in the tranny. Often is not switched over if swapping out shifters.

Did you use some rtv to seal the shifter to the base of the tranny?

You can change the shifter from the top once the console is removed, correct? I got under the car this evening and jacked it up on stands and looked under and around the tranny and bell housing. It is leaking around several bolts and sprews out when the you rev it up. Anybody have any ideas, am I going to have to take out the tranny and reseal the entire tranny with some high temp rtv?

Sounds like the entire thing needs to be re-sealed. Looks like a tranny pull, disassemble, degrease and re-assembly is in order.

Didn't you just buy this?!?! [Confused]

great this should be a bundle of joy, Yes I picked it up from a friend off this sight but the guy got it in a parts deal and didn't know much on the background of the tranny. So I guess I need to pull the housing and everything apart and put some high rtv seal and then put it back together.

Would Lucas tranny seal fix the problem? I am also having idling issues. I notice on my old tranny that there were to sensors on the top by the shifter but only one was connected and one on the side ( i think back up lights) and the new(old) tranny had not a single sensor on the top of the case but only one on the side....AHHHH Damn tranny and idiling issues...some direction or assistance would be greatly appreciated. I am getting ready to deploy to Iraq for 6 months and would iike to get her in good shape before I leave.
