Ok well I am going to be building a superchargered 354 C.I motor for an early 60's mustang and was wondering if a stock 302 out of a 80's mustang will be able to hand 500-600HP? I pulled some numbers on desktop dyno if what I am going to run with the block. But would like to know if it would handle the horsepower before I buy the block. Thanks in advance Billy

OK now whats would be the advanteges of going with that than stroking a 302 block? I am going to be making alot of hp and want somthing reliable to drive to the track and around town on the weekends. [ June 06, 2005, 07:13 PM: Message edited by: Beans ]

a bigger block will handle more hp. plus a new 351 shortblock is the same price as a 302. i dont see any reason not to go with a 351 or 351 stroker

also the stock 302 block starts to be very vulnerable to splitting once you go over the 500hp mark. Just go with an R block or Dart block. [ June 06, 2005, 07:21 PM: Message edited by: Glenn ]

Yea I can see how a biger block can handle more HP. But where can I get a 351 block at a good prive? All I want is the block no crank or pistons. Thanks again Billy

i'm sure someone on this site has an extra. roller blocks are a little harder to find, but since you're smog exempt and can run a good sized cam anyway, it shouldn't matter

I got an 89 351w short block will take 275 for it lmk good canidate for ur build up

OK now i have a couple of other questions I was wondering your opinions on either trickflow heads or edlebrock heads...I have heard alot of good things about them but want more info. also I was wondeirng about what a good cam would be to run. The cam I am looking at is an competiton cam. here are the specs. woudl thta be a good cam to run.

I am looking at supercharging the motor as well but would like to have the motor have that lump sound and I want it to make alot of power. Thanks in advance Billy.
