i got a queston i just got done putting a t5 that was bought from a member here but it pops out of first sometimes i had a hurst short shifter but put the stock one back but still pops out what you guys think it could be thanks [patriot]

Sounds to me like a problem with the tranny [Frown]

The only other thing you could check is to adjust the shifter stops.

my tranny does the same thing in 2nd sometimes. [Frown]

If it does it with both shifters.

Time to tear it down and examine my bet is syncros.

could be the synchros or a clutch adjustment is needed if it engages really low

The stock T5s are really a weak transmission. My guess is that it may have a bent or a cracked shifter fork within the transmission which is not allowing full gear teeth engagement. How are the rest of the gears?

rest of the gears go in but when trying to down shift sometimes it grinds could need clutch able adjustment

synchros are bad...downshift grinding indicates "boomage" very soon...

sometimes when people put on aftermarket shifters the shift is set too short and it might have dog toothed the first gear and the syncro causing it to pop out. i might have some parts to fix it ill let you know.
