stock forged piston bottom end, mildly ported GT40P's with heavier springs, dual quad Edel brock F-28 intake with (2) 500CFM carbs. I would like a lumpy idle, but streetable. Anyone have experience with the stage 2 on a carbed engine? The stage 1 is my backup plan. Any other cam recomendations for a hyd roller carbed engine?

The stage 2 will work better with high compression or boost over 10psi. I think the stage 1 will work with your setup alot better. I have a stage 2 in my 331 with 13psi it makes great power. The stage 1 with 1.7 rockers will work great.

The stage 1 cam is plenty lumpy for a stock block 302. I have a sound clip of my car with the Stage 1 cam at idle somewhere on my PC. I'd post it, but I can't host it anywhere.

Perfect for a carbed setup. Plus some 4.10's.
BUT-

A pair of 500cfm carbs willl be overkill. It will make more power w/ a good single carb setup.

Thanks for the answers...I know the carbs are overkill, but this will be going into a FFR Cobra replica and it just looks right sitting in that engine bay, so I am willing to give up a few (15 max) ponys....but I want it to sound right too [Big Grin] 2300# car with about 280-300RWHP and 315 meats. I wont be building this one (my second) for another year or two, so I am sure I will change my mind a couple of times before then. I am a complete noob with this carburated stuff and was not sure if the TFS cams worked well with it or not. If the Stage 1 is lumpy, then it sounds like the better choice to me. If you could e-mail me that sound file I would really appreciate it!

Stage 2 is the better choice for power AND a lumpy idle. If you are doing dual carbs, why wimp out on the cam?

You guys arent making this easy! [Big Grin]
OK how about the stage 2 with the heads knoked down abit to get 10:1...would this be a pain to cruze the streets with? (wide ratio 99+ 4R70W with 3:55 gears and a TCI controller)...means I would need to flycut the pistons and get some RR's too.

a stage 2 cam on that motor will load up too much...you'll have to do some tuning if possible...stick with a Stage 1.....

Thanks for that file Nick....I think it's a stage 1 for me...sounds great, and I wont need the extra hassle of flycut pistons and I can add the RR's later. Anyone have a stage 1 for sale?
