Stud mounts need to be used with stud mount heads that have a stud screwed in that the rocker sits on. Pedestal rockers are bolted to the head with a bolt and adjusted with shims rather than a poly lock like the stud mounts. Shouldn't be any hp difference between the two, stud mounts are just easier to adjust and stronger.

if you go from stock to 1.7 you'll gain a few hp. they are a good mod though, you can feel the engine running smoother in the upper rpms

if I were u I would go with the 1.6 because if u plan on getting a cam latter u might run into PV clearance problems with the 1.7 [ April 27, 2005, 09:03 AM: Message edited by: Cstang50 ]

with a stock cam, the 1.7's would make a little more power, but yeah. if you plan on an aftermarket cam go for the 1.6's. but then again, you have to plan ahead on what kind of cam or heads you'll be getting since some cams work better with 1.7's and some heads are stud mount

with the roller rockers you will have to remove the oil baffle(on the inside) on your passanger side valve cover were the oil fill is. it isn't any big deal. There are aftermarket cams ground for 1.7 rockers.

If they're stud mount you dont torque them. You set them to zero lash, then half a turn past, and then lock them down. Make sure the cam is not on the lobe for the lifter you are adjusting.
