Don't waste your $$$ on homemade braces. If you're interested, PM me...I've done more than a few here.

What do you mean by home made braces? Would it be alright to just weld up the seams, or are the plates necessary?

Homemade braces...I've seen actual sheetmetal attempted to be welded on. Or wanna-be battle boxes that are nothing more than high school shop projects made from 14g metal. If you're gonna do it, do it right. Welding the seams is ok, but you've got to do it correctly...and in the proper places. Otherwise, you're only going to make things worse.

Last car from the board I've done was "Mustangt5091", Jeff's car. Maybe we can talk him into posting up a pic or two. I'm not one to take pics of my own work, I don't need a "yay-me" photo album.

I wouldn't say its a yay me album, but more of a refrence for others to see what needs to be done.
