I have a 5.0, engine mods are edelbrock upper and lower intake manifold, jba shortie headers, asp pulley, gma mass air flow sensor, bkk cold air intake, holley fuel pressue regulator. all of these parts are smog legal but i know that my cats are gone and i know that my air to fuel mixture is off. should i just go with the illegal smog or replace that cats and go from there, and also is it even worth getting the car tuned from just bolt ons? or just set all setting to factory, timing, fuel etc. thanks alot for the help

If you set everything to the factory specs and install working cats, you'll pass as long as you're not blownin' a freight-train amount of smoke currently. [Wink]

Do you know for sure it won't pass? If so how far off are you?

If you haven't tried to smog it then tune it, change the oil, and take it to a place and have them test it and see where you are at.

If it won't pass then I would try and fix the problems and get it to pass. A smog hookup will cost you serious $$$$.
