Need recommendation on a smog test only that is lenient.
Car passes sniffer with flying colors. 100% stock engine from airbox to pan, stock headers/H-pipe. Passed pre-test last week.
went to a test only in san carlos and he wouldn't test my car because my check engine light didn't operate.
its ![[BS flag]](graemlins/bs_flag.gif) but I really need a place that will let that slide. The light isn't on, it just doesn't behave right when you crank the car.
smog tech said its supposed to light when you turn key to run with engine off then go out while cranking, mine does the opposite and lights while cranking but otherwise is always off.

if it comes to it i know a leniet shop in concord, he would probably look passed that light

just out of curiousity, do you know why your light doesn't come on? i went through the same thing before, passed the sniffer test but the tech said he had to fail me because the light didn't come on. to make a long story short, i found out the previous owner took the bulb out because the computer was bad which kept the light on. ended up getting a new computer from ford.

I'm pretty sure its because I have an `89 4cyl body with the entire stock dash harness in place, and an `87 computer and engine wiring harness.
the place where I passed pre-test's book said no MIL (check engine light) was required until `90, but none of the other places will check in the book for me ![[Mad]](mad.gif)
I went test-only smog hopping all day today and I always got the same line "this thing has too many mods under the hood and I'd be here all day checking everything, please take it somewhere else"
fucking smog nazi's, the only "mods" under my hood are no a/c, no p/s, and an electric fan ![[Embarrassed]](redface.gif)
