buy an alarm - most have a kill switch built in. If someone really wants to steal your car though, it's gonna get stolen.

Just find a way to kill the spark and/or fuel. I'm sure theres a binch of ways to do it, but i dont know if it would be the best idea for people to post their secrets on a public message board if ya get me. ![[Wink]](wink.gif)

Yup it's never good to post this kinda stuff on a public forum. I'm sure there are criminals who read this too
I would get an alarm with built in ignition kill.

If you want a kill switch then you need to find one that has proper resistance to the gauge wire it is connected to. So for instance if you hook a kill switch to your fuel pump, you can run almost any size switch because the wires are no larger than 12 gauge normally. But say you want to kill the battery, right? Well, in that case you need a switch that can handle a huge 12 volt on/off surge of electricity. Summit sells both. I won't post too much because yeah, those opportunistic folks do not need to know any more about our cars than they already do.

It's easy, find a ground wire and run it inline with a switch. Then hide it somewhere creative.
Switch on = no ground no go switch off = grounded
Do it this way and you can pretty muchrun any switch since you're just switching a ground. Don't have to worry about running a live wire with the proper ampage either. ![[Whoo Whooooo!]](graemlins/woowoo.gif)

actually, current flows from the ground to the positive, making ground more important.

if you want to have a kill switch on something that needs a lot of current, like the battery, you need to use a relay, use the switch to activate the relay that way the current doesn't go through the switch.

Search eBay. There's a guy on there that makes a nifty little kit and sells them along with instructions. I got mine off of there.
A side note, a kill switch is hardly a secret. If someone is going to steal your car, they probably know enough about cars to look for something like that.
Just don't put it in an easy place to find/get to.
I have a kill switch and removeable steering wheel.

If I park in an area where I think my car might get stolen I just pull the fuel pump relay out. Pretty easily accessible in a fox.

My buddy learned a few years back that no matter what you do to protect your car, you cant beat the thieves if they have a tow truck!

Hard to tow it if your front wheels are cranked to one side and there's no steering wheel. ![[burnout]](graemlins/burnout.gif)
