Here is something that just boggles my mind. after rebuilding my motor the clutch has always been really tough. its either grab or no grad. you couldnt feather it if you tried. it would make the car shake and everything. and... i had an issue with vibration ever since i could remember after the rebuild. i had all kinds of things to choose from. driveshaft, warped rotors, tires are unbalanced, motor mounts, whatever. some people even said the TKO trannys shook and was normal. nah......not like it shook my car. dam thing felt like it wanted to break in half. only after 75 mph may i remind you. so i swaped out everything. all brand new. so it made the vibration go from 75 to 95 . so as you can imagine i was still pist. so.... out of pure frustration one night, i was driving back from work and the clutch was being fussy as it normaly is, but i guess i wasnt in the mood that night. i threw it in first and was basicaly stomping on the gas peddle like ten times. made the car jerk and make all kinds of noises. you all know the noises the car makes when you are giving it hicups. (tranny, rear end, the body / frame flexing). after that i just smashed on it home. about half way home i look down at my speed and im hitting 110 with no vibration. so i red line 4th and throw it in nutral. no vibration. im like wtf. so i get to some lights now and i take off slow....now i can feather the clutch and it smooth instead of jerky. ok....now wtf. i dont know what snaped in place or what the car did to fix itself when i was jerkin the hell out of it....but now my car feels 200% better. the scary thing is im wondering if all this time i was driving and racing my car, if the tip of the tranny shaft was even in the bearing that sits in the rear of the block. thats the only thing i can think of. if anyone has any other guesses im all ears.
so if anyone is having vibration problems and you have changed your clutch, flywheel, or tranny.....or took your tranny off and reinstalled it for any reason....i would check it. or do the same thing i did, but i wouldnt recommend it...lol. cause if you have replaced all you can replace like i did......what other options are there? just thought i'd share [ March 04, 2005, 08:56 AM: Message edited by: S2 STALLION ]
