Does X-pipe really matter, I installing a bassani catback and want everything to sound/fit good. Does it matter with the Offroad x-pipes? will BBK do or should I just buy the Bassani? Thanks guys!

Difference is in the actual "X" design.
I believe some have x's that are like 2 pieces of bent tubing that is almost cut (fish-mouth) style like a roll cage and then welded together on the parts that meet in the center.
Where as Bassani i believe like Magnaflow advertise there x's to be stamped from a piece of metal as a seperate piece with ajoining tubes to mount to the rest of the exhaust.
Also the style off flanges/connectors vary making some harder to install than others.

Dr Gas if you are going offroad, custom fit it to your exhaust, should be no problems.

There is a great article in the March 2005 issue of Mustang Enthusuast. It compares BBK H-Pipe, Bassani X-Pipe, BBK X-Pipe, MagnaFlow X-Pipe, Dr. Gas X-Pipe, and the VRS X-Pipe.

The highlights of the article read, using a a 97 N/A Cobra making 350 rwhp, that all the pipes were close to each other. For example:
3000 RPM Bassani= 155 hp BBK= 155 hp Dr. Gas= 156 hp Magna-Flow= 156 hp VRS= 141 hp and the average was 156 hp
6000 RPM Bassani= 341 hp BBK= 343 hp Dr. Gas= 343 hp Magna-Flow= 344 hp VRS= 340 hp and the average was 342 hp
The highest hp reading (at 6800 RPM) was Dr. Gas @352 & Magna-Flow @352.
The test also compared catted vs. off-road, using a Dr. Gas catted and uncatted pipe. The test found that there wasn't much difference between hp ratings up to about 347 hp. Above 347 hp, it appeared that the cats did hinder performance. The largest difference was 6 hp at 6800 RPM.
The article also ran a X pipe Vs. an H pipe, specifically a BBK H-Pipe. The testers found only a minimal difference above 2800 RPM, usually two hp and at the most 4 hp. The big difference was sound. The BBK H-Pipe was deafening and the testers couldn't even stand behind the car near redline because of the noise.
Sorry for the length, hopes this helps. [ February 03, 2005, 03:51 PM: Message edited by: 5OHS5OH ]

Max Torque = All max torque readings were taken between 5000 and 5200 rpm.
Magnaflow off-road X 309.0 VRS off-road X 308.8 BBK off-road X 308.3 Dr. Gas off-road X 308.3 Bassani off-road X 308.9 BBK off-road H 303.1
Catted Dr. Gas off road X vs. catted Dr. Gas X pipe at max power:
Catted = 311.3 no cats = 310.5
