Hey everyone, I've decided that my transmission needs to be rebuilt and from what everyone tells me, ModernDriveLine is the best. So I called them up to set an appointment and they said that I need to pull out the tranny myself and take it to them. I've never pulled out a tranny before and was wondering if there's any advice on doing so or if there's anyone who's willing to help me. Oh and what's involved in the process of removing the tranny? Thanks.

Drain the oil Unbolt the shifter inside the car Take off the h pipe Unbolt the driveshaft and remove it Take all the connections off of the tranny Put a floor jack under the tranny Unbolt the 4 bolts that hold it to the bellhousing and then pull the trnny out and lower it. Its pretty self explanatory once your under there, you can also buy a haynes or chiltons but it will probably basically say what i just typed

Thanks a lot for the advice. Yeah, it's the stock T-5 (manual) that's in my '94 GT. Luckily, I have access to a lift, tranny jack, and all the tools. But I'm new to this stuff, so I'm going to need all the help I can get. How long will this take approximately and how heavy is the tranny itself?

I pulled an AOD out of my Tbird in the driveway using a floor jack and some blocks of wood, I'm sure you'll have a much easier time

Thanks for all the advice everyone. Yeah, I'm going to pull out my tranny and take it to Bruce at ModernDriveLine to have it rebuilt. There's no way in hell I'm going to take apart the tranny and do it all myself, lol.
