It turned out the oil pump needed to be replaced. My car does the same thing. When I start the car all the gauges shoot up and work except the oil pressure gauge. Also the oil temp gauge is really high, even from the start. After driving my car for a while it stays kinda high still, like 2 needles away from the red.
