A friend of mine is getting a Bassani X-pipe put in his 97 GT. He was told by the tech guy at the muffler shop that he needs a gasket for the pipe. It goes where the headers meet/connect to the x-pipe. Now I don’t know if this is true or not. When I had my H-pipe put on my car..The tech guy never informed me that I needed one. Then again I had it done at Michaels Muffler….

there's suppose to be a gasket between where the header and x/h-pipe connects on the driver side. if it's not cracked or broken then just reuse the stock one.

Is there supposed to be a gasket for all cars using h-pipes or is this just for newer cars?

All mod motors use a gasket on the passenger side exhaust manifold.
