Well hey i have a 1991 5.0- I have a trick flow intake on it, which I need to take off because I need to smog it. Im looking to get the cobra intake polished, for my stang for performance and looks and aslo to help me pass smog, but my first choice is the elderbrock efi intake, because its 50-state legal and it helps me from idle-5500 rpms. Which need bec of me having a automatic. So my question to u all is, which intake would give me better performance, and hp gain. And anyone know any smog people I need to get to a test only station. thanks jon....

I thought both the TrickFlow intakes were CARB legal?
The Edelbrock will give a bit more power than a stock Cobra, but the Cobra looks better! Port the Cobra lower and for your app it will be just as good.

Unless you really want to change your intake I would call Trick Flow and get the carb number for it (should have one ??).
You can go to this site
http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermkt/devices/amquery.php
look up the carb info, print it, and take it w/ you when you get your smog.
I am running a GT-40 (ported lower) and it works good. Although a Cobra should be fine too.

Last time I checked, the TFS Street Heat intake had CARB #s but the Track Heat did not.

Just provide the CARB number for the Street Heat. The techs will never be able to tell the difference. Heck, most of us can't without the two intakes being side-by-side.
