I recently removed the speedo cable and found the gear all mangled with several teeth missing. Its a plastic part . Thing is the speedo worked fine. I am going to replace the gear but should I worry about the missing plastic teeth. I am taking the trans out for a new engine. Any thoughts on this ? They are good folks, Im sure the plastic gets hot n cold and cracks with time. Im gonna throw a new one in and call it even. There is nothing you can do but replace it every so often.
