Topic: how long will a 5.0 motor last?

i got a 94 with 153,000 and it's running real strong doesn't smoke,doesn't leak any oil etc with an oil change every 3k mi and maintenance how long will iexpect my motor to last and i don't beat on it.

they last well over 200,xxx miles, one of my buddies has a 1989 5.0 with 235,000 miles, car runs like a champ

i had a lil over 300k and still ran like a champ..out every wknd racin it and goin to az in it...

These engines are known for being real strong,,specially if u have an 88 engine or so,,which are the ones that have forged pistons..actually there's been some people puting nitrous into some 100,xxx mile 5.0 engines and holding up to it.

What's more durable the 5.0 or the 4.6? This salesman at Ford told me that the reason they switched was because the 4.6 was more durable? Any truth to that?

Thats hard to say, how many 4.6's do you see around with 200,000 or even 150,000 miles?

There are tons of 4.6 sohc in town car limos, taxis and cop cars with over 300,000 miles running strong. They are pretty durable.
