just a quik question

my escort 1.9 got hot enough to damage the ctlinder head it may have been run without coolant, my question is this a few people have told me yes it could have burt up the rings, is this possible. I've had my mustang real hot and nothing happened to it, also its head gasket had signs of leaking on the side of the block, does this mean damage to the blocks deck or could a warped head also cause this, so lets hear your opinions, there is no visible damage to the pistons, should I just spend 300 on another head and wish for luck or junk the car.

I know yea it's a escort but lets not say yep junk it just cause its a escort

about 450.00 for a complete motor, I wouldn't hesitate just junking the car if it were in bad shape, however its still in perfect condition. could the rings be done while motor is still in the car by removing the oil pan, never really crawled under this car to look.

I'm not overly interested in spending alot on the car since I have two nice trans am's but if all it needed was a head I would do since the car is much nicer on gas than my trans am's

If the piston tops still have carbon and are not real loose in the bore I'd try a new head. If it got real hot you could have lost temper in the rings resulting in oil consumption.

nope no carbon deposit at all, looks like a new engine inside, maybe the leaking coolant or extreme heat caused this, the engine never siezed though that I'm sure of
