Is it new or used? What brand(assuming it is an aftermarket tach)?

It's used. It's a Autogauge. What wire do I have to cut to make it accurate for a 8 cylinder?

the Auto gage is wired for a V8, to change it to a 6 you clip the BROWN wire that sticks out of the back, for a 4 cyl you would clip both the BROWN and ORANGE wires. Check to see if those 2 wires are clipped on the back of your tach

Theres a few smaller gauge wires that you can pull out of the hole on the back also.
